The bedtime ritual is one of our favorite parts of the night. We love classic tales, but we also love modern and new favorites with one of our favorite new series being, Charlie Girl.
Created by Elizabeth Frogel, founder of CenturyMom, a NYC-based fashion consignment business, the story follows the very chic poodle, Charlie through her life in NYC. This includes two lovely books – Charlie Girl: Her Very Happy Life in the Town She Calls Home, New York City and Charlie Girl: A Story of Love and Instinct.
The first one in the series, Charlie Girl: Her Very Happy Life in the Town She Calls Home, New York City captures the posh and stylish life of Charlie as she recounts her fabulous life in NYC from meeting her friends to visiting Central Park as well as exploring her gorgeous high-rise apartment.
Charlie Girl: A Story of Love and Instinct is also fantastic as it beautifully captures the emotions and feelings that a sibling has when a new baby comes home. However, this is seen through the eyes of a poodle (Charlie) that my girls loved to hear as it related to how they just welcomed home their new sister. For this book Charlie Girl LLC partnered with ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®). Charlie Girl LLC will donate one dollar for every copy sold in the series. The ASPCA logo is now featured on the back of all Charlie Girl books benefitting the organization.
While reading these books, we were also struck by their gorgeous and whimsical illustrations by Don Kossar that include ink and watercolors. Stylish, modern and fresh we were captured in a world of NYC that is stunning, magical, and joyful as it depicts NYC and Charlie’s life so wonderfully.

Clever and engaging animation complements each of the stories (narrated by Ava, creator Frogel’s daughter) inviting young readers to pop the pink bubbles floating from Charlie’s bath or watch the elevators in her building go up and down, and even see Charlie’s dirty footprints magically appear on the furniture.
The innovative series of enhanced animated Charlie Girl eBooks are available through Apple on their iBook store as well as Kobo and Google Play for $9.99. Non-enhanced versions will also be available on Amazon and other eBook retailers for $5.99.
