We love the bedtime story reading ritual with our kids. It is an incredible way to relax and get swept away in a world of imagination and wonder. We recently came across some beautifully illustrated stories that captures the magic of their respective stories, and offers a way to see and understand these worlds in a rich, layered, and whimsical way. Here are a few of our new favorites:
We are really excited for the new book, Did You Know That I Love You by Christa Pierce. As the literary debut, Pierce has a life-long love of art, design, books, and storytelling that is beautifully depicted in her whimsical and charming illustrations. The story features a heartfelt story about expressing feelings to those that you love. This deep and meaningful message is seen through a colorful collection of characters like a baby fox and blue bird that bring life and meaning to this heartwarming and special story.
There has never been a more chic cat than Coco Le Chat. Featured in the book by by The Adventures of Coco Le Chat: The World’s Most Fashionable Feline follows the fab life of this glamours cat as she explores NYC. Whether it is lunching with Anna Wintour who declares her the ‘Kate Moss of cats’ or traveling to Coney Island, the MET, or Lincoln Center, Coco Le Chat is seen throughout the book dressed to the nines in her collection of fashionable hats, beautiful outfits and fancy wigs. This is depicted through the fun photography of Paul and the stunning drawings of Jennifer that beautifully showcase the stunning world of NYC. My daughters and I loved reading about Coco’s world as it referenced a lot of the places that we have been as well as how it shows how important friendship is when at the end of the day, Coco really needed someone to share these amazing experiences with.
We are huge fans of the charming Charlie Girl series with our favorite book being Charlie Girl: A Story of Love and Instinct. Featuring gorgeous images from Don Kossar, we love how you can get wrapped up in the mystique of NYC as we learn about Charlie’s life with a new sister. This includes whimsical illustrations that are done by ink and watercolors – that compliment the book and its stylish, modern and fresh feel.
